ROAD TRIP!

Our family recently took a fun road trip to South Dakota. The trip started out with a visit to the fun waterpark in Spearfish, SD. The kids had such a great time that I could never find them to get a picture of them!

The next stop on our trip was an awesome fireside by John Bytheway. He spoke to to the youth about their theme for the year (Be thou an example of the believers...). He was so funny and everything we had hoped he would be. It was great that Tyler and Brady were able to have their picture taken with him!

We went with the youth from our ward and the young men (and our family) had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the mission home. We met the new mission president and his wife and we had a great experience there learning about what it is like to be on a mission.

After a tour of the mission office the next day, our group split up and our family went on to have some serious fun and family bonding. We started at Storybook Island in Rapid City, a great park with lots of characters from stories. Here are Mason and Brady on the train! Mason was obsessed with that!

I love this picture. I can just hear Mason saying, "Come on, Mom, not another picture. I want to go and play!"

Tyler is "King of the World!"

Here are the boys on an old firetruck.

The next day we went to Mt. Rushmore. Kwin got this awesome close up shot on the trail down below the faces.

Here are the boys posing for a shot.

We stayed in Custer and camped at Flintstone Park. The one day we went to the theme park, it rained and rained. But we didn't let that detour us! Here are the kids at Bedrock City!

The boys with Barney Rubble!

Another train ride! This one was a lot of fun and the whole family could go!

On our way home, we drove to Devil's Tower. That was a first for me and it was the highlight of my trip.

It was a great trip and we had an excellent time. Now it's time to get ready for school to start!

What a fun trip. I love the Black Hills, but we are too cheap to do any of the fun tourist stuff!

That was a trip I wanted to take while we were living up there - to go to all those sites, but we didn't make it happen. It looks like you had a blast, though. Good for you! Now your house is quiet with the older 2 at school. It's probably nice. :)

What did you decide about teaching the Longhurst's piano lessons? Maybe they are still wanting a break, I don't know. Sure miss you guys!
